Learning Under Pressure

Many people think that students should be under pressure to learn in a better way. Actually, I was shocked to know that some teachers think if they overwhelm their students, that makes them more professional in teaching!. I don't understand what the students could gain from being stressful all the time!. I agree that students need a little pressure but not to squeeze them.

In the university, I had a subject that was really easy, but the professor was so mean that he was trying to make it as hard as he could. He gave us millions of homework and lots of quizzes ,yet that wasn’t a problem. The problem was that he thought that no one should takes a full mark, and just few students can take an (A) because we are in a university not school !. Therefore, his tests was so long with very short time, and if we answered the half of any question, we will not get any mark on that question, just Zer0, even if he could see that we understood that question but didn’t have enough time to finish it. Honestly, I hated him, his class, the subject, studying, and I was thinking of leaving the university because I went back home crying after his classes. Although I had a high GPA, and I never failed any class, I thought I will fail that class. Eventually, I passed that class with C, but I was delighted that I will not see that person again.

I don’t have any problems with studying anything, no matter how much hard and stress it is, but I have a serious problem with psychological pressure that caused by some teachers because of their weird ideas.

Pharaphrase

Original Passage:
Speed is everything on the way to Mars and not only because a seven-month trip in a confined space can be tortuous. The bigger problem is that it can be lethal because of radiation exposure in deep space, where the absence of Earth’s magnetic field leaves astronauts far more exposed to deadly cosmic energy than they are in orbit or on the way to the moon.

Paraphrase:
To reach Mars, rapidity is the most important factor for two reasons. First of all, because of the winding road that requires 7 months to pass through. The second reason, which is more important, is the danger that may be suffered by astronauts because of the deadly radiation that is caused by the lack of gravity in outer space (Kluger,2004,p.48).

Embarrassing Experience

A few years ago, I got accepted to work in a company as a summer trainee. In my first day, I was with another trainee in the same office, so we started a small conversation. at the lunch time, I went with her to the canteen to get some food, then we back to our office to eat there. As soon as we sat (in front of each other), she received a phone call. During she was talking on her cell phone, I began eating my salad that had pieces of black olive. Suddenly, one piece just fell down from my fork to her toes!. She then looked at her foot, bent to remove it, looked at me and smiled. At that moment, I started laughing hysterically for around 10 minutes. She was still talking on her phone, looking at me, wondering what was wrong with me! I was so so embarrassed that we don’t know each other that well. I am pretty sure she thought that I am crazy!.

Meaningful Experience

Generally, I don’t have many experiments in my life, but recently I have begun an exciting one, which is studying abroad. As soon as I graduated from KFU university in 2009, the idea of studying abroad  popped into my head. In fact, I had faced many problems before I came to the United States, yet I was able to overcome them. First, it took me a year to convince my family to accept this idea. Second, the process of issuing my father’s visa took 9 months, so I had to request a new I-20 six times! Finally, after these and other problems had ended, I arrived to Denver ,where my meaningful experience has started.
Actually, although I like this experience, I can’t write a lot about it  because I think this is just the beginning. However, since I came to the United States in April, I feel that many things in my life have changed. Not only my life but also my personality ,and my view of life and people.  I don’t know why, but whenever I think of the troubles that I passed, I remember the first day in my current school when my adviser said to me “ Thank you Fatemah,  you are so patient “.
